Your growth is stalling because of who you know
I remember being at this networking event in London a few years ago…
You know that awkward dance where you're trying to hold a drink, shake hands, AND grab a business card without spilling coffee everywhere?
Yeah, that one.
And it hit me while watching everyone swap business cards like they're collecting Pokémon: most of us (myself included sometimes) are doing this networking thing all wrong.
The people I see actually winning at it aren't collecting 500+ LinkedIn connections they'll never talk to.
They're focused on just 2 types of relationships:
Your "I Can Be A Complete Mess Around These People" Circle
This is 3-5 people at roughly your level who you actually trust.
When you’re overthinking something, they can call you out immediately.
When you’re undercharging a client, they can identify why.
When you’re having one of those "why am I doing this again?" days, they get it without the pep talk.
Your Aspirational Network
These are people a few steps ahead of you who actually respond to your messages.
I’m not talking Gary V, just people who are where you want to be in 1-3 years.
I've had a few of these people in my career who saved me years of pain by sharing what actually worked for them (not the sanitised LinkedIn version).
Sometimes they'd just tell me when my ideas were terrible, which honestly saved me a lot money 😅
The weird thing is, these people aren't as unreachable as you think.
Most are flattered someone's paying attention to their journey.
Why These Matter…
Look, ChatGPT can give you decent advice for sure.
But it can't:
Talk you out of undercharging a client
Introduce you to someone who becomes your biggest partnership opportunity
Tell you what REALLY happened behind that "I'm so excited to announce..." LinkedIn post
That stuff only comes from actual humans who like you enough to be honest.
If you're thinking "cool story Jordan, but HOW do I find these people?" – that's literally why I built the Think Like A Creator community the way I did.
It's not a massive group where no one knows each other.
It's deliberately kept small so you can build both types of relationships:
Peers who become your inner circle
More experienced folks (including yours truly) who become your aspirational connections
Oh, and because I'm all gas and no brakes right now, I've just confirmed two new masterclasses coming soon for community members – one on Brand Partnerships and another on LinkedIn Personal Branding.
Both included with membership, obviously.
So here's my extremely nosy question for today: who are your 3-5 inner circle people? And who are the 2-3 people slightly ahead that you want to learn from?
If you drew a blank on either question, maybe that's your next move.
Now, in the spirit of transparency, this is NOT a good fit if you:
❌Are looking for a quick fix or "hack"
❌Aren't willing to implement and take action
❌Expect someone else to build your business for you
❌Are completely new to business
❌Can't commit to at least 2 out of 4 power hours per week
If any of these sound like you, that's completely fine - but this probably isn't the right community for you at this moment.
However, if you're serious about building a sustainable, profitable business using creator principles, are willing to implement, and value expert guidance and accountability, then I'd love to welcome you.
Important: I’m capping this community at 50 members so I can give 1:1 attention without being overwhelmed.
Right now, we’re at 39/50.
Remember, the creator mindset is all you need to grow 🌱

P.S. A huge thank you to everyone who joined the waitlist for our "Your Most Valuable Asset" workshop! The response has been incredible. We'll be sending all the details to everyone on the list very soon!
