Your CEO's LinkedIn is worth more than your ad budget
Right, continuing from yesterday's thought about marketing departments working like creator studios.
Had another realisation that's been bugging me all weekend.
I think a lot of brands are completely ignoring their biggest untapped asset.
Their CEO's personal brand.
Who's probably posting LinkedIn updates that read like they were written by a legal team in 1987.
When your CEO builds a proper following, they're connecting with other CEOs, investors, potential partners, future employees - all as well as new leads.
Basically everyone who could change your business trajectory is already on LinkedIn scrolling past your boring company updates.
But they'd probably engage with your CEO if they posted something actually interesting.
Like, I don't know, their genuine thoughts about running a business instead of corporate speak about "synergies" and "optimising solutions."
Most companies spend years trying to build brand awareness through paid ads and PR agencies.
Meanwhile their CEO could probably become the most recognisable person in their industry just by posting like a normal human being twice a week.
It's probably the only marketing strategy with unlimited upside and basically zero downside and the greatest ROI.
Worst case?
Your CEO becomes well-known in their field and attracts better partnerships and talent.
Best case?
They become the face of your entire sector.
So if you're rethinking your marketing structure, maybe start with the person already running the company.
Get them posting about actual business challenges instead of celebrating "seamless integrations" and "robust growth strategies."
Trust me, people want to hear from humans, not press release generators.
Remember, the creator mindset is all you need to grow 🌱
