You’re too comfortable
Seek discomfort.
Sounds counterintuitive, right?
But hear me out for a second…
Our lives have become too easy.
Everything around us is built for convenience.
Quick dopamine hits
One-click purchases
Instant entertainment
Food delivered to your door
We've optimised for ease.
But it's leading us down a dark path.
Is there a correlation between comfort and misery? I think there is.
And I think we all feel it but don't want to admit it.
The easiest path is rarely the most fulfilling one.
The most convenient option is rarely the one that makes us grow.
The quick dopamine hit is never as satisfying as the thing we worked for.
Deep down, we all know this.
But we keep choosing comfort anyway.
I mean - when was the last time you felt genuinely proud of something? Properly satisfied?
I'd bet it wasn't when you doom-scrolled for an hour.
It wasn't when you took the easy option.
It was probably when you did something hard.
When you pushed yourself.
When you chose discomfort over convenience.
I've noticed working with creators and business owners that the ones who are happy - not just successful, but genuinely fulfilled - they're the ones pushing into areas where they don't feel all that confident.
Doing work that scares them, even.
The somewhat miserable ones?
They're optimising for ease, taking shortcuts and choosing comfort.
Then wondering why nothing feels meaningful.
They're stuck in this loop where they know they should do the hard thing, they don't do it, they feel bad about not doing it, and then they seek more comfort to avoid feeling bad.
It's a cycle that only gets worse.
And I'm not exempt from this. I've caught myself doing it too.
There are weeks where I'll avoid a difficult decision by staying busy with easy tasks.
Or I'll skip a tough conversation because having it feels uncomfortable.
And every single time, that avoidance costs me more than just facing it would have.
The discomfort doesn't disappear - it just compounds.
Discomfort is literally where growth lives.
It's where you figure out what you're capable of, and as a result - where you create things worth being proud of.
That's a kind of self-trust you can't buy or shortcut your way to.
So maybe the question isn't "how can I make this easier?"
Maybe it's "where should I be seeking more discomfort?"
I'm not saying make your life unnecessarily difficult.
I'm saying maybe we've gone too far in the other direction.
Remember, the creator mindset is all you need to grow 🌱
