TV critics are crashing out over MrBeast
The critics absolutely hated Beast Games on Amazon Prime.

The Guardian called it "one of the most undignified spectacles ever shown on TV."
The Telegraph went with "deafening, joyless cash dash."
IGN just called it "a bust."
You'd think MrBeast had personally insulted their grandmothers or something.
But while these critics were writing their scathing reviews, actual viewers were loving it.
The numbers tell the story: critics gave it 38 out of 100 on Metacritic, while regular people rated it 8.5 out of 10.
That's a grand canyon of disagreement.
And it made me think - why are traditional media critics so angry about this show?
The answer became clear when I saw Warner Brothers' latest financial report.
They just wrote down $9 billion in TV network value.
In one quarter, they lost $7.9 billion.
Their shares dropped 12% in a single day.
That's not a bad quarter.
That's a "maybe we should have learned to make YouTube videos" quarter.
The reality is that channels like CNN, TLC, and Food Network are watching their audience disappear.
People aren't sitting around waiting for scheduled programming anymore.
They're watching YouTube on their TV screens.
The numbers are staggering.
Over 400 million hours of podcasts watched on TV screens every month
Sports content up 30%.
More creators than ever making their living from TV-style content
I've spent a lot of time in TV industry meetings lately.
You know what I keep hearing? Fear.
The old guard is watching creators like MrBeast and the Sidemen build massive audiences without any of the traditional machinery.
Just great content that people actually want to watch.
We saw this firsthand working on Inside with Netflix.
The traditional production world is struggling - 74% of the industry is out of work.
Meanwhile, creator-led content is booming.
It's not that these critics are wrong to have opinions.
That's literally their job.
And sure, maybe Beast Games isn't going to win an Emmy…
But they're missing the bigger picture.
Entertainment has shifted.
YouTube is where people go for literally everything now.
Traditional media can write all the snarky reviews they want.
They can complain about production values or format or whatever else keeps them up at night.
But while they're writing their reviews, MrBeast is out there making shows that millions of people actually enjoy watching.
And he's doing it his way.
That's why this shift is sooo much bigger than just one show.
The creator mindset is reshaping entire industries.
The old playbook of waiting for gatekeepers to give you permission? Dead.
Following traditional industry "rules"? Gone.
Building what people want and letting the audience decide? That's the future.
This is why I'm so passionate about helping business owners understand this shift.
Because whether you're making content or selling products or providing services, the principles that helped MrBeast succeed can help you too.
Remember, the creator mindset is all you need to grow 🌱
