Stop self-limiting

End your week inspired

Hello and happy Friday,

This week, how to stop self-limiting:

One thought

We are far too hasty in assuming a change of path is not possible.

As a random example, I really think anybody on earth could, within reason, become a film director.

It might take a ten years of networking and planning.

But someone’s got to do it.

One example

Take Ang Lee — Oscar-winning director of Life of Pi.

He was a house husband for 6 years after college, during which time he wrote several un-produced screenplays.

One of these won a competition, and he went on to produce his first film aged almost 40.

I wrote about Bridgit Mendler’s change of career on Wednesday — from the Disney Channel to launching a space startup. Amazing.

But these things take time.

A decade passed between her last chart hit and becoming a CEO.

Be opened minded about the possibilities, but realistic about the process.

And finally, One Last Thing:

Stop telling yourself you’re ‘too late’.

Because right now, someone, somewhere is working on what you want to do.

And they’re probably older than you.

And less qualified.
