Stop asking "what should I do?”

I learned something interesting when I was CCO at YMU.

We were working with some of the biggest names in TV - Holly Willoughby, Ant and Dec, all these established stars.

But something wasn't quite clicking with how they were approaching growth.

See, they saw themselves as TV presenters.

That was the problem.

Before you read on - If you're new here and want to understand more about how the creator mindset grows businesses, I recorded a 10-minute masterclass that breaks it all down. Check it out here before we dive in:

Because when you see yourself as just a TV presenter, you limit your opportunities to... well, presenting TV.

So we started doing something different.

Before making any moves, we'd sit down with them and help them see themselves as personality brands instead.

We'd ask them questions like: "If you could click your fingers in five years time, where would you be?"

Then we'd map out how to get there - not just through TV, but through books, social media, business ventures, whatever aligned with their vision.

I see the same pattern today with business owners.

They jump straight into execution - the content, the marketing, the products - without really knowing where they're trying to go.

They're doing what TV presenters did - limiting themselves by how they see themselves.

But the real question is "who do I want to become?"

Without this clarity, you end up with a lot of activity but not much progress.

You make content because everyone says you should.

You try marketing tactics because they worked for someone else.

You launch products because they seem like good ideas.

But none of it really connects.

The businesses I see winning right now?

They're crystal clear on where they're going.

Everything else - the content, the products, the partnerships - flows from that vision.

This is exactly what we're focusing on in our Think Like A Creator community right now.

We're helping members get clear on their vision first, then building everything else around that.

We’ve got two calls this week, a ‘Power Hour’ tomorrow morning and an ‘Everything Finance Q&A’ with Arcade’s Co-founder Aaron O’Neill on Thursday.
