My raw thoughts on what success means in 2025...

Someone asked me yesterday “What does success looks like in 2025”, and honestly, I've been thinking about this non-stop since then, and I wanted to share my thoughts while they're still fresh.

I think success today means freedom.

Full stop.

The world we're living in right now is absolutely wild.

Remember when a steady job meant you could buy a house, start a family, and generally feel like you're moving forward?

That world's basically gone, isn't it?

I saw this video the other day of someone making £50K vs someone making £35K, and after tax, the person on £50K is only taking home about £1,500 more across the ENTIRE YEAR.

That person probably spent 7-9 years climbing to that position.

Where's the incentive?!

It's no wonder I'm seeing more people go freelance, start companies, or dive into the creator economy.

The potential upside is just so much bigger than grinding for 15 years to maybe become a partner somewhere.

People have realised life is too short and the traditional path doesn't even offer security anymore.

Success is having enough to live what 20 years ago would have been considered a completely normal, middle-class existence.

Mad, isn't it?

This is actually the core of what we talk about in Think Like A Creator - it's not about becoming a YouTuber or TikToker.

It's applying creator principles to build something that gives you genuine freedom.

The Strategy pillar is all about figuring out what you want your life to actually look like, not what society has programmed you to chase.

And this is exactly why I'm so passionate (maybe too passionate) about young people taking more risks.

The "safe route" doesn't exist anymore!

Big names lay off thousands of people on the regular.

Companies you’d think are bulletproof.

So if there's no safety in the "safe" option, why not take the risk?

When I speak to younger audiences, I keep telling them the university route is a complete waste of time for the vast majority of people. (Sorry, not sorry, higher education industry - you've had your time!)

If you need to be a doctor, lawyer, or similar, fine.

But for most jobs?

It's just saddling yourself with debt.

What if instead we asked people:

"What do you love? How do you want to get that out into the world? How do you want to make money? How do you want to exist?"

This is why in our TLAC community, we start with mindset shifts before diving into tactics.

Because if you're still chasing someone else's definition of success, all the strategies in the world won't make you happy.

I know I sound like a broken record to my team about this, but it's because I'm watching so many smart people waste their potential in systems designed to extract value from them rather than help them create it.

The creator economy, freelancing, building micro-businesses - there are so many ways to make a living now that give you control over your life.

Not to live some ridiculous luxury lifestyle that influencers pretend is normal, but to build something sustainable that's YOURS.

I know I sound like a broken record to my team about this, but it's because I'm watching so many smart people waste their potential in systems designed to extract value from them rather than help them create it.

That's what success looks like in 2025 - having enough freedom to build the life you actually want.

Okay, rant over.

Would love to know your thoughts on this.

Is freedom your definition of success too?

Or am I just projecting my own values onto everyone else? (Definitely possible!)

Remember, the creator mindset is all you need to grow 🌱

P.S. If you're currently stuck in a job you don’t enjoy, this isn't meant to make you feel bad. It took me years to figure this stuff out. But maybe use this as your sign to start building something on the side that could eventually give you more options. Even tiny steps in the right direction count.

And if you need support, guidance, or just a community of like-minded people who are also trying to break free, come join my Think Like A Creator community. We do weekly Power Hours where we tackle exactly these kinds of challenges together. Click here to see if it’s for you.
