"It's just too competitive nowadays."
I came across this visual from Shaan Puri on Twitter that shows what your "competition" actually looks like when going after any goal:

Credit: @ShaanVP
Most people (red) are too afraid to even try
A bunch more (blue) give up within 3 failed attempts
Some (green) move way too slowly
Others (purple) get distracted by shiny objects
And it's basically just you and one other actually in the race
This hit me because I hear this excuse constantly from people who aren't making progress:
"It's just too competitive nowadays."
Is it though?
Look at any market, any platform, any business opportunity right now.
Yes, there are thousands of people claiming to be in that space.
But how many are actually serious?
How many will still be there in a year?
The numbers drop dramatically when you look at who's actually in it for the long run.
The truth is, your real competition isn't other people - it's your own tendency to:
Never start because you're too scared
Give up after a few failures
Move so slowly that you never build momentum
Get distracted by every new platform/tool/tactic
And that’s really it.
Most people don't take their ideas seriously enough to push through the uncomfortable middle part where it feels like nothing is working.
So the next time you catch yourself thinking "there's too much competition," remember that image.
Remember that most people don't even try, and of those who do, most quit quickly.
Your competition is much much smaller than you think.
Remember, the creator mindset is all you need to grow 🌱
