Importance of quality
End your week inspired
Hello and happy Friday,
This week, a few things on the importance of quality:
One thought
Personal branding. Content creation. Branding. Advertising.
These things matter.
They are indispensable.
But never let them distract you from what everything should revolve around:
Creating something deeply valuable.
That is the centre of it all.
Do it right, and everything else becomes so much easier.
One (long but amazing) quote
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI
"All companies that grow really big do so in only one way: people recommend the product or service to other people.
If you want to be a great company some day, you have to eventually build something so good that people will recommend it to their friends - and want to be the first one to recommend it to their friends for the implied good taste.
No growth hack, brilliant marketing idea, or sales team can save you long term if you don't have a sufficiently good product.”
One statistic
About 45% of startups fail because of lack of market fit.
Or to put it in human language:
The product wasn’t very good.

David Tran, creator of the world’s most famous sriracha brand:

In 1980, he began selling the sauce to local Asian restaurants from the back of his van.
Since then, he has not spent a penny on advertising, relying entirely on word-of-mouth.
The company currently generates $150m in revenue a year.
And finally, One Last Thing:
Of course distribution and marketing is important.
But you’ve got to be promoting the right thing.
