How I hit 15M views with just my phone and a green screen

lol so…

Over the past week my Instagram Reels & TikTok’s about the charity match hit nearly 15 MILLION views! 😂

And they were just me in my hoodie, talking into my phone with a green screen effect behind me.

Literally nothing special production-wise. £0 budget.

Simply sharing my take on the game and having fun with it.

But here's what made the difference:

I posted at the moments when people were actually looking for content.

Right before the match when excitement was building.

During the event when big moments happened.

And right after - when everyone wanted somewhere to join up and share their experiences.

That last one was huge.

After the match, everyone had their own take on what happened.

They wanted to find others who were there, talk about the best moments, and honestly, show that they were part of something big.

My comment section became a space for that

People sharing their experiences, tagging friends, debating moments from the match.

It's that FOMO effect – you were there (or watched it) and you want others to know.

By creating content right after, I helped give people a way to say "I was part of this too!"

This is why timing is everything.

I could've made an amazing video about the charity match two weeks later and gotten nowhere near those numbers.

Instead, I went with quick, authentic content exactly when people were searching for it.

This applies to whatever you're building too.

You've probably got ideas you're holding onto until they're "perfect" before sharing them.

I catch myself doing the same thing.

But what if you just put something out at the right time instead?

When your industry has a big news story... share your take immediately.

When a major event happens in your niche... be one of the first to post about it.

When your customers are all talking about the same problem... jump into that conversation now, not next week.

That window of opportunity closes faster than we think.

For me, the 48 hours around the charity match was my window.

I jumped through it with whatever content I could create quickly.

No overthinking.

Just showing up when people were actually looking.

That’s the secret my friends!

(Btw 15M views is a massive dopamine rush and I’m loving every second of it 😂)

Oh, and I had a blast at the New Voice Awards yesterday too! Did a fireside chat about advice for new creators and got to present the Best Social Creator award to Specs.

The whole talk basically came down to what I'm telling you now.

Timing beats perfection.

So here's my question for you:

What conversation is happening RIGHT NOW in your industry that you could contribute to?

Don't wait for the perfect take.

Don't wait for polished content.

  • Just show up

  • Share your thoughts

  • Be part of the moment

Your phone is enough.

Your knowledge is enough.

But that timing window won't stay open forever.

That’s all from me today 👋

Remember, the creator mindset is all you need to grow 🌱
