Everyone has an opinion
We're getting overwhelmed by opinions.
And yes, I see the irony - I'm literally writing a newsletter sharing my opinions about how there are too many opinions.
I'm part of the problem lol.
You probably are too if you post on social media.
So let's just acknowledge that upfront and move on.
But hear me out…
There's just too many opinions out there and it's creating a massive problem (and an even bigger opportunity).
Social media has given everyone a platform, which in some aspects is great.
But it means that everyone assumes their opinion is just as valid as an expert's.
You see it all the time.
Political commentators, sports experts, economics professors arguing with everyday people who believe they know better because they read three tweets and watched a TikTok.
Everyone's shouting.
Not many are listening.
And the actual signal is getting drowned out by all the noise.
I think we've confused access to information with expertise.
We've mistaken having a platform with having something worth saying.
And because everyone can share their take on everything, most people now share their take on everything.
Me included. You included.
Open Twitter or LinkedIn on any given day and you'll see a thousand hot takes on whatever's trending.
Everyone's got an opinion and everyone thinks theirs matters.
But this is where the opportunity comes in - when everyone's shouting, the people who know what they're talking about become more valuable than ever.
When there's this much noise, clarity cuts through.
When everyone's sharing surface-level takes, depth wins.
When everyone's chasing trends, consistency and expertise become the competitive advantage.
The people you listen to intently are likely those who've built real credibility in their specific lane.
The ones who've done the thing they're talking about.
The ones who share insights, not just opinions.
The ones who add value instead of just adding to the noise.
This is exactly what we saw with The Sidemen.
And it's the same in business.
Everyone's got opinions about what you should do.
How you should market.
What platform you should be on.
What content you should make.
The opportunity is to be the person who's actually done it.
Who has the receipts.
My advice (😉)
Go deep on the thing you know.
Get results.
Then share what worked and what didn’t.
That's how you cut through.
The creator economy is maturing and the people winning now are the ones with proven expertise.
Real results.
They're not trying to be everything to everyone - they're becoming the undeniable expert in their specific thing.
And when you do that, you don't need to shout.
People come to you.
Anyway, rant over!
But if you want to listen to me waffle on a bit more, I recorded an Insta reel all about this.
