Letting go

End your week inspired

Hello and happy Friday,

Some things around detaching from work…

One quote

James Dyson:

“In business, you will be wrong, by and large, 50 per cent of the time. The trick is to recognise when you have gone wrong and correct the damage — not to worry, at the moment of making the decision, whether it is the right one.”

He produced 5,127 prototypes of his first vacuum before settling on a final design.

One image

Russ Cook, who’s currently running the length of Africa, cooling himself down with a carton of milk in the Republic of the Congo:

Do you think every success and problem along the way affects his overall commitment to the task at hand?

Detachment doesn’t mean indifference.

It means relating to the wins and failures of your career as necessary parts of a greater whole.

Because that’s what life is: a process to move through.

Not a task to finally get done.

And before you go, One Last Thing:

Becoming positively detached from your work is not easily achieved.

It is human instinct to peg one's ego to one's achievements.

Forgive yourself for failing at it sometimes.
