A real example of why foundations matter...
I had an interesting conversation with a creator yesterday that perfectly illustrates why I'm so passionate about getting strategy right.
He's doing well.
Really really well actually.
Running an info product in the football space, making between 50-100K a month.
But he came to me because they've hit a ceiling.
Can't seem to break through to the next level.
The conversation we had next showed exactly why the Think Like A Creator framework starts with strategy and storytelling.
See, they'd jumped straight to selling courses.
They had a product that worked.
They had customers who liked it.
They were making good money.
But they'd skipped the two most crucial steps:
Strategy and storytelling.
Quick reminder - here's how the TLAC framework builds:
Strategy - building your killer vision
Story - sharing your journey consistently
Sales - creating a funnel that converts
Systems - automating what works
Strengthen - maintaining discipline and consistency
Scale - repeating and growing
Most people jump straight to level 3.
They rush to monetise before they've built a foundation.
Before they've crafted a story that resonates beyond just the product.
This creator was the perfect example.
He was amazing at technical football training.
But when we dug deeper, we found he'd actually come from Afghanistan, coded his way into a great career, and now wanted to inspire the next generation to do the same through sport.
That's much more than a course.
That's a mission.
That's a story people can connect with.
Great strategy answers three questions:
Why do you exist beyond making money?
What unique value do you actually bring?
How are you going to cut through the noise?
Without clear answers to these, you end up:
Creating content without direction
Marketing without authenticity
Selling without real connection
And this matters more than ever because in 2025:
Everyone's got access to the same tools
Everyone's got decent production quality
Everyone's running the same marketing plays
The only real differentiator?
A clear strategy and a compelling story.
Think about the creators you actually follow.
The ones you trust.
The ones whose products you buy.
I bet they're not just selling ‘stuff’ - they're on a mission you believe in.
That's what strategy gives you:
A clear direction for your content
A authentic way to market
A story people want to be part of
You can absolutely make money without strategy - this creator proved that.
But if you want to build something that truly scales long term? Something that resonates deeply with people?
You need to start with why you exist.
You need to craft that bigger narrative.
You need strategy before sales.
The good news?
It's never too late to step back and build that foundation.
That's exactly what this creator is doing now.
